In this episode, Robert discusses Batman: Gotham Noir, a 2001 DC Elseworlds graphic novel that represents one of the early works in the Brubaker and Phillips partnership. The team's interpretation of Gotham City in 1949 is a great read as it is one their few forays into the superhero genre and contains many of the plot devices that would be used again throughout their subsequent comics. A year later, both Brubaker and Phillips worked on a single issue of DC's regular monthly Batman book, Batman #603. This episode also contains a brief discussion on the upcoming graphic novel My Heroes Have Always Been Junkies and some exciting news about a new monthly Criminal book coming in January.
